Somon Air is the first in Tajikistan and the third in the Central Asian region to obtain the certificate of membership of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This certificate is a significant support for the Republic of Tajikistan, which has been successfully audited by ICAO in October 2016.

Thomas W. Hallam II, the CEO of Somon Air, said on this occasion: "We are proud of this significant achievement! The Membership of IATA is a new milestone in the success story of our airline and the entire civil aviation of Tajikistan as a whole! The Membership of IATA will further strengthen the position of the airline as a regional and international carrier. It also gives the possibility of using the experience of advanced international air carriers, the introduction of new technologies and new types of service for passengers and cargo, improving the standards of operational activities, simplifying mutual agreement and ultimately means serious competitive advantages and reduced costs."

Being an IATA member gives Somon Air the possibility to conclude interline and code share agreements with leading international carriers. This will provide the airline the opportunity to deliver passengers and cargo to all destinations outside the Somon Air route network.
