Somon Air has received official authorization from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) that it is entitled to apply for individual traffic rights on a permanent basis “into, within and out of” Europe. Citing that Somon Air has complied with all safety requirements of EASA Part TCO (Third Country Operators), Somon Air is the first and only airline from Tajikistan to officially meet the international safety standards of EASA.
The main activities of EASA include strategy and safety management, the certification of aviation products and the oversight of approved organizations and EU Member States. To receive this authorization, Somon Air had to demonstrate, during a year long application process, that its Aircraft (and equipment) and the operational activities of Flight Operations, Maintenance and the Quality and Safety Department, met the stringent regulatory requirements established by EASA. We are very proud of this achievement. It positions Somon Air to expand its future operations within Europe and validates our commitment to Safety.
Currently Somon Air successfully operates flights from Tajikistan to Germany, UAE, Turkey, China, Russia and Kazakhstan. The fleet of the airline consists of Boeing 737-300, -800 and -900.
Today in Dushanbe, the ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the “Air Company Somon Air” LLC and the Football Federation of Tajikistan for 2018 was held. According to this document, Somon Air secures its status as general sponsor of the Tajikistan Football Federation.
In his speech to journalists, Commercial Director of Somon Air Abdulkosim Valiev said: “Summing up our cooperation with the Football Federation of Tajikistan last year, I note that in the person of the Federation we have found a reliable partner and a good friend. The airline always strives to support and develop the national sport within the framework of the general policy of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the instructions of the Founder of the Piece and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon”. In addition, A. Valiev enlightened journalists about the company’s plans for 2018. “In the Year of Tourism Developmentand Folk Crafts, we are primarily committed to opening more new flights. In particular, in the near future - the opening of flights to Tashkent, Samarkand, Baku and Beijing. We also intend to increase our fleet by purchasing new Boeing Dreamliner 787 and Embraer aircraft.
Vice-President of the FFT Dilshod Juraev in his speech thanked Somon Air for the partnership and wished the airline success. “This year we intend to develop children’s football, - D. Juraev said. - For this year, a lot of children’s football competitions of international level are planned and we are sure that the Somon Air as our reliable partner will help us with transportation, since to become a professional football player, the child needs to go out to the competitions and see with his own eyes how peers in other countries exercise and master this sport”.
To date, Somon Air, which obtained IATA membership in September 2017 successfully operates flights from Tajikistan to countries such as Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, China, Russia and Kazakhstan. The current fleet consists of Boeing 737-300, -800 and -900 aircraft.
