On the occasion of the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and the 94th anniversary of the Civil Aviation of Tajikistan, Somon Air and the Brazilian aircraft-building conglomerate Embraer presented the newest Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The event was held on September 13 in Dushanbe, and was opened with a demonstrating flight. Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads of aviation structures and journalists of local mass media were invited on board of the newest aircraft. The demo flight was of 45 minutes and ran from Dushanbe to Ismoili Somoni peak and back. It was a fascinating opportunity for passengers to evaluate the airplane of the Brazilian aircraft-building brand and enjoy the beauty of Tajikistan from the illuminator.
Upon arrival at Dushanbe International Airport, all participants of the demo-flight were invited to the Hyatt Regency Hotel to continue the official part of this significant event. The welcome speech was delivered by Thomas W. Hallam II, Somon Air Chief Executive Officer, and Martyn Holmes, Vice President for Embraer Commercial Aircraft in this region. Following, there was a presentation of the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. A pleasant completion of the event was the official reception of guests and an entertainment program performed by folk musicians.
Somon Air intends to replenish its fleet with the new generation Embraer E-190 aircraft from the manufacturer for domestic and regional flights. These aircraft with seating arrangement up to 114 seats will allow the airline to expand the geography of flights.
To date, Somon Air has successfully operated flights from Tajikistan to the destinations such as Germany, the UAE, Turkey, China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In the fleet of the airline, there are Boeing 737-300, -800 and -900 aircrafts.
