On 28 January 2026, the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan held a press conference dedicated to summarizing the results of the aviation industry’s activities in 2025.

During the event, the management of Somon Air, responding to questions from journalists, announced the planned delivery of two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft within the current year. It is expected that the expansion of the fleet will enable the airline to increase flight frequencies and further develop its route network, thereby improving the accessibility of air transport services for the country’s citizens.

It was also noted that a major historic agreement had been signed with Boeing for the future acquisition of 10 narrow-body aircraft and 4 wide-body aircraft. This agreement is being implemented as part of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan’s national strategy for the development of the transport sector.

Special attention was paid to issues related to domestic transport accessibility. In particular, Somon Air plans to increase the frequency of flights between the capital of the republic and the city of Khujand, especially during the winter season.

In addition, over the next five years, the airline intends to expand its fleet to 14 aircraft, including the acquisition of regional aircraft. This will make it possible to increase the number of flights to Khujand, expand air connectivity with neighbouring countries, and make airfares on these routes more affordable for passengers.
